Dryer Terms and Glossary
- AUTO-SENSING
- Automatically stop when clothes reach desired dryness
- BLOWER - circulates air by pulling dry air in and drawing hot damp air out through vents rewrite
- BLOWER FAN BLADE - The fan blade blows exhaust air from the dryer.
- DOOR SWITCH - : A spring-loaded switch located near the dryer door's latch or hinge allows electricity to flow to the dryer's internal components, such as the motor and heating element.
- DRIVE BELT: As the motor turns, it transfers power to the belt, which rotates the drum.
- DRIVE MOTOR - provides power to the belt, which causes the drum to spin
- DRUM - rotating containers provide a space for clothes to tumble freely as hot air circulates around them
- DRUM ROLLER - holds the drum in place as it spins
- DRUM SLIDE, GLIDE, OR PAD - keeps metal drum from rubbing against metal dryer frame
- DRYER THERMAL FUSE - A safety mechanism designed to halt electrical flow to specific parts of the dryer, preventing overheating and potential hazards.
- ELECTRIC DRYER- uses metal heating coils and are completely powered by electricity. An electric dryer requires a 220-volt circuit
- ELECTRONIC CONTROL BOARD - controls every function of a dyer's electrical circuits.
- FLAME SENSOR - picks up heat from the flame and sends a signal to the control board
- GAS DRYER - Gas dryers use natural gas or propane to generate heat and electricity to power the drum, fan, lights, and controls. Gas Dryer requires a 110-volt circuit
- GAS VALVE COIL - opens the gas valve to allow gas to flow through the dryer
- HEATING ELEMENT - a coil or wire that produces heat in electric dryers
- IDLER PULLEY WHEEL - l maintains tension on the dryer belt, ensuring it Lint Screen- Catches debris before it leaves the drum
- MOISTURE SENSOR - . The moisture sensor is a set of metal bars mounted inside the dryer drum. The metal bars sense moisture in the garments being tumbled and dried inside the drum.
- SENSOR AND THERMISTOR - monitors the cycle temperature to dry your laundry.
- THERMOSTAT - regulates the amount of heat in the dryer
- TIMER - a component of a clothes dryer that controls the duration of a drying cycle.
- TIMED DRY - You decide cycle times for loads, Lets you add enough time to eliminate any damp spots
- VENT PIPE - allows air to leave the dryer and exit outside the home
